Welcome to the Combined Federal Campaign!

I am extremely honored to serve as the Chair of the California Gold Coast Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) for 2009.  Last year was the first time our counties united to form the California Gold Coast CFC and we raised nearly $900,000 to support a multitude of local and national charities.  Our goal this year is to reach the $1 million threshold for the first time in the history of the Gold Coast Campaign.

Your past generosity has made this program a success.  Through the funds pledged in this campaign, you assist those organizations working every day to improve our communities, nation, and world.

The CFC is the largest and most successful workplace charity campaign in the world raising millions of dollars each year for more than 20,000 nonprofit charitable organizations worldwide.  The mission of the CFC is to support and promote philanthropy through a voluntary program that is employee-focused, cost efficient, and effective.

The charities supported through the CFC range from single-man office charities to large, well-known charities.  The charities you support through the CFC focus on people who really need your help – the hungry, the homeless, the sick, the disabled, children and families in need,

and the environment we live in.  You can choose which charities to support based on the issues you care most deeply about.  When members of our community are in distress, we are all in distress. The health of a community is measured by the quality of life available to all members.  Most of us have had friends, family members, or co-workers who needed a little extra help at difficult times in their lives and were assisted by the generosity of others, either by personal action or through an organization devoted to assistance.  Whether we like it or not, we are all vulnerable to the unexpected events of life or medical emergencies.  The cycle of need and the generosity of others affect each of our daily lives. You have an opportunity to have an impact on the well-being of others by supporting the CFC.  Please consider pledging contributions this year, either through simple payroll deductions or by making a one-time gift.  Take a moment to look through the catalog of charities to find those that are meaningful to you.  By working together, I’m confident that We Can reach our goals for this year’s campaign by making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

Sincerely,

Jim Worcester
